Overview

Aroma Coto Gagak, nestled on Jl. Gagak in Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan, offers a genuine taste of South Sulawesi's culinary heritage. This restaurant specializes in Coto Makassar, a traditional beef stew known for its rich and aromatic broth. Prepared through a time-honored process using a heated cauldron and firewood, the broth stands out with a deep, savory flavor that carries hints of native spices, delivering an authentic experience rarely found outside this region.

The main dish, Coto Makassar Gagak, can be enjoyed in various styles: from all-beef to mixed cuts, including tender meat and offal, accompanied often by ketupat—rice cakes that complement the hearty stew. The texture of the beef is tender, enhancing the richness of the broth without overwhelming it. Beyond the coto, light sides like crispy cassava snacks served with chili sauce create a balanced meal that satisfies both palate and appetite.

The coto here comes with a soup that's rich in spices, making it savory and delicious. The broth is prepared through a traditional process using a heated cauldron and firewood, which gives it an authentic taste. The place is quite comfortable, and they also serve cassava snacks with chili sauce that pair nicely with the main dish. Parking is available on the side of the road Overall, it's a great spot to enjoy a hearty, traditional bowl of coto.

It's one of the most affordable popular food in town. The portion looks small once the plate is arrived. But when you started to stir the food, you will found a lot of beef inside. The meat is tender, the broath is tasty, definitely will comeback.

Delicious with thick soup. You can ask for all beef meat or mixed. Go to blue section if you want the non smoking area (i assume). The price is IDR 20,000 per 1 bowl, excluding the ketupat.

This is a really popular coto venue in Makassar. I originally thought this was overrated, but I was proved to be wrong. I paid a visit to this shop, to my surprise, the queue was not as long as I expected, which may due to the fact that I visited in a non-peak hour, as people say that there are long queues normally. There is only one type of soup, but you can choose the parts of beef that you like, whether or not to add sliced buras or green onion, and much more, which adds a high level of customisability. The quality of the beef is excellent and the soup is fantastic. I can't stop myself from drinking the entire soup. The staff is very friendly and if you go to the washroom, a pleasant surprise awaits you! Overall, I highly recommend this to any coto lover!
